About Me
Following in the footsteps of the numerous nurses and doctors in my family, I wanted to join the healthcare industry as my way to make a difference in the world. My skills and interests took my in a different direction as I focused on the construction and management of healthcare facilities.
I graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering, one of the first females to accomplish this degree. During my college years I co-oped with major construction companies in the Birmingham, Alabama area as an Assistant Estimator and Assistant Project Manager. I worked both in the office and in the field gaining valuable education and experience in a variety of construction practices.
I am currently working as a Engineering Supervisor for hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. In the past 8 years, I have been part of a multi-disciplinary team that lead the construction of a brand new, 12-story, state-of-the-art hospital that earned LEED Gold certification. I have also managed various construction and renovation projects related to the re-purposing of the existing hospital building. These projects have ranged from small clinic renovations to large in-patient unit expansions. Also, I have been a leader in the continuing accreditation compliance of the Joint Commission standards for healthcare systems.
When not at work I enjoy spending time with my husband and three wonderfully rambunctious children.
